There are also issues with back siphonage. As there are no double-check valves fitted on any allotments in Ealing (which are a requirement for any hose connected to the water mains) there is the possibility that water can be pulled back into the mains systems contaminating water supplies (Ealing Council Health and Safety take note!). Thames Water is perfectly withing its remit to prosecute fot this and should as it is a very serious problem. n.b. There is no statutory requirement for Ealing Council to provide leisure gardens, however there is to provide allotments for vegetable growers. If indeed there are leaisure gardens in Ealing then they could be sold off or built on by the Council easily. The idea of "leisure gardens" is a fiction. A decade of mismanagement of allotments has meant that no efforts have been made to allow for legal hose connection. |
