Topic: Unfortunately most allotment water is metered

Most of the water supplies to Ealing's allotments are metered and the council tax payer pays for the water use. Those with meters will know how much water can be put through a hose into a garden when using a garden hose. Each allotment plot being subsidised by the council tax payer to the value of a couple of hundred pounds a year in water is clearly wrong.

Unless you have a lawn on your allotment you do not need a hose to water with. Vegetables require relatively small amounts of water applied best with a watering can in the early evening.
