Ha ha ha, Philippa. You really are a very silly individual. I fix things when I can, and do it well. The latest thing was to replace the very corroded fixings on a toilet, the parts for which are no longer available in plumbing or hardware shops and took a lot of sourcing online. It was a difficult, time-consuming and physically demanding job but got done. The alternative was to employ a very expensive plumber who would have said replace the whole toilet. Luckily I had some time, patience and expertise to do that, but a lot of people haven’t. As for local repair places? Well I did use them, so it’s not because of my attitude. How else would I have known about them? Perhaps if pompous idiots like you didn’t put people off by constant lecturing and virtue signalling others would. But there are lots economics that don’t seem to work for the proprietors and selling up is the only option. It doesn’t seem to be an attractive career choice for younger people either. You also seem particularly ignorant about complex electrical items and how ‘easy’ they are to fix. Changing a plug or a bulb is one thing, but having the knowledge to repair a large item that isn’t working is quite another. It’s a knowledge gap that even YouTube videos can’t bridge. Maybe you should retrain, Philippa? You clearly have a vast knowledge of repair so why not offer your services round the borough? Bound to be a winner! |
