Well I was disgusted in being told we could have money back on our Council Tax before an election years ago when I could see that there were buildings like Acton Swimming Pool in need of maintenance because the guttering was insufficient in heavy rainfall. I believe many felt uneasy and gave that money to charity. That was Ealing Council years ago when it was Conservative. There will be countless other examples where Councils of any persuasion don't or do do things that you agree with. What can't be denied is that there have been a lot of cuts of the grant from Central Government - and little offerings of grants for various initiatives which if you find out about them need time, energy, expertise and bright ideas to try and win. Not everybody can afford to spend all that time on what may turn out to be a fruitless exercise. Whether you like it or not we are moving away from the Take Make Waste economy to a more sustainable Circular Economy. There are plenty of examples online now. https://www.ellenmacarthurfoundation.org/eliminate-waste-and-pollution |
