Some problems are unsolvable to everyones agreement yet the world continues to turn on its axis. Cars in Ealing get wider and heavier by the day, buses, emergency services struggle to pass them either parked or moving. EVs are heavy and don't solve the toxic tyre crumb issue, Stazi Islington it seems should remove pavements, bus lanes houses to make more room for the car lobby to satisfy a very vocal minority. Basing views on "what aboutism", protest politics(I am againstism..)tactics without offering solutions is easy and headline grabbing. Look at the negative opinions on X Rail "Elizabeth line", Channel Tunnel. Hard to find anyone in the borough who now has a cogent answer against. HS2 is the exception perhaps. LTNs unpopular with a large minority as it was giving women the vote, abortion rights, not sending children down mines and so on. How about traffic lights they hold me up lots of time, shall we remove them? Seat belts, speed limits on motorways and so on. Surely we all support less road casualties, better health for accepting some constraints on our "freedom". I am sure the planners do not hold a monopoly on improving life for everyone, so let's give them ideas and solutions. There is a nightmare heading our children and grand children's way -its climate disaster. |
