Well, there’s your conundrum Paul. Why do you insist that residents should be kettled in LTNs and be ‘re-educated’ by people like you, yet anyone from outside the area is fine to drive? Nobody is being asked directly if this is what they want, apart from the selected few who favour restrictions. It was clear that the overwhelming opinion on traffic restrictions in Ealing was against, despite what you think. If you don’t ban cars then you have to accept that anyone who owns one should be allowed to use it. The point you miss, repeatedly, is that a motor vehicle is a tool that facilitates life for many people, particularly those who need such transport for economic reasons. You just can’t understand that because you live in a little bubble of self-satisfaction. There’s not ‘too much driving’. There’s too many people, and that’s not going to improve with current planning policy. All those people need services and shops and everything else, much of which isn’t conveniently located within a 15 minute walk of home. And that’s not going to change despite the supposed 15 minute neighbourhoods. And if you think there is too much driving then you should insist nobody drives to your house. That would make a contribution, no? |
