| It's simple. Any committee but particularly planning should be made up of Cllrs from the wards concerned or the immediate district . The Cllr chairing the meeting should come from a completely different part of the borough and not have a vote but ensure an open debate with protocols maintained. Hounslows system is braking mad with a very polarised borough from East to West. Very few councillors from either end have a clue about the areas they currently vote for. But Ealings is open to all sorts of manipulation as we see with it's Leader and his dubious connections and his direct connection to an MP. The Cabinet system has been so abused that it's not fir for purpose in such a big borough. I feel that both Boroughs ought to be divided up and redefined to suit the demographics far better all round. And kick party politics out of it altogether. Probably makes me an anarchist! |
