| These are weasel words from the WHO. As it's nearly impossible to prove a negative, to state that 'no evidence exists that people who have recovered from the disease and developed antibodies are protected from catching it again' is virtually meaningless. Is there any evidence that you can catch Covid19 a second time? Actually there is some evidence that you can't catch Covid19 twice. Firstly, evidence from other coronaviruses would suggest you can't catch it twice. Of course, one would have no protection from any mutation of Covid19 though current evidence is that it is slow to mutate. Secondly, evidence from South Korea shows it's not yet possible to distinguish relapses from re-infections. Someone can test negative but still have low levels of Covid19, which can then flare up again; this is not the same as catching it again after the infection has completely cleared up. Thirdly, the WHO has made so many mistakes during this crisis, anything they say should be taken with a pinch of salt. |
