I'm not anti-golf, in fact I enjoyed watching the Masters recently despite the lack of much European interest.

However, I'm still not persuaded that the consultation was unrepresentative of the spread of opinion in the area. The membership no doubt rallied their friends and families for support but that didn't stop the outcome being overwhelmingly in favour of a park. These things aren't meant to be referendums and there is such a thing as the tyranny of the majority but the result was so decisive that I can't see how it can be interpreted other than strong local support for what the council is proposing.
