You clearly need to understand a bit more about the ‘consultation’ process in Ealing, and elsewhere. It’s not a referendum we are told if the majority turns out to object to a policy, yet a mandate is claimed if a majority support it. Genuine Boris cake eating at work. Then you have the structure of the consultation questionnaire itself, invariably phrased in such a way to ensure the ‘right’ result is obtained. Often there’s no direct option to object. The rules on consultation are quite clear and case law precedent exists yet Ealing routinely flouts the process, particularly with regard to planning. You might also want to bear in mind that the majority you speak of aren’t Perivale locals, according to the consultation findings. Only 56 percent supported it from there. Hardly overwhelming. |
