Yes, until they realised that the emergency services couldn’t get through. And they still didn’t bother consulting the LAS, whose crews aren’t issued with keys for bollards. Strange how nobody carried the van for that ‘oversight’. But even when bollards were replaced with cameras there was a lot of doubt that emergency vehicles would fit through the gaps. The LAS publisher a letter recently indicating that this was an issue. The signage in some LTNs was inadequate until vehicles were practically at the no through point, Mattock Lane being a prime example. The poor signage was raised with LBE numerous times but nothing was done. Some might say it was a cynical ploy to maximise revenue. However, Hounslow’s policy is to continue with concrete planters through which no vehicle can pass. |
