At the end of the day most of the people active in the arts do so because they are not capable of doing anything more productive: e.g. engineer versus interior deigner. You presume a great deal about my origins, experience, and education. Clearly you have never experienced severe illness, or indeed disability (first or second hand) or you would be out there protesting about cuts to social care and public health in Ealing as well as the UK as a whole.
If an arts centre is such a goer why not lease the HMV shop (soon to be empty) and use that as an arts centre funded by private monies from these 2,200 people that have spoken up. I do not believe that public funds should be used for the support of arts/entertainment projects.
Please do not forget that Ealing is town of 330,000 people who live here and that local businesses are there to take advantage of these 330,000 people to turn a profit. We should be trying to make Ealing a better place for the people who live in it and not trying to grow the economy here for the benefit of local businesses and profit-oriented organisations.
