The Ealing Arts Centre proposal has much to commend it and the volunteers who have pushed this proposal forward are doing a public service for which I thank them.

I do believe that Ealing should push forward with this project, subject to user demand and commercial viability.  I was disappointed that the Overview and Scrutiny Committee that considered this project on 30th September did not back the project with a clear cut recommendation.

That said I do believe that the music studio portion of the project is expensive and hard to justify.  The group's own business plan spells out that music studio will suck up 2/3rds of the £600K capital requested but will only provide one 1/3rd of the revenue once the project is up and running.  I would say start a small project without the studio and come back and talk about the music studio after a couple of years when you have proved you can run the centre.
