| We have never suggested the arts centre would take any money away from front-line services. Indeed, the money that had been ring-fenced for the arts has now disappeared into the general budget,so Ealing Arts Centre is proposing to set up this project with a grant from the Big Lottery. This is a special Lottery grant for putting public buildings into use for residents. Exactly what we propose. And the comprehensive services the Arts Centre would offer will be for the elderly, the disabled, teenagers, children, as well as the likes of Forum writers. It is a well-known fact that an important spin-off from arts centres is to increase well-being,reduce crime, reduce loneliness, reduce health problems - and thereby reduce the demands on those public services.
