No - the fun has just started. How can Councillor Taylor be so shamelessly hypocritical? I don't trust public sector research. The Audit Commission, for example, is a suspect body as its boss for many years flew himself and his wife first class around the world to attend spurious events at our expense and got away with it until Private Eye exposed the scandal. Ealing residents will be the judges of local public services - we live here. Certainly some services have improved. Sadly the Planning Service is not one of them. And Ealing Council's ability to count research data is also very suspect. They managed to double count those in favour of Arcadia until SEC exposed this 24 hours before the Arcadia Planning Committee Panel meeting on 17th December, 2008. The prize winner in Ealing for the organisation '...sullenly unwilling to provide public information services...' is Ealing Council - not the local papers. And let's not forget that 'Around Ealing' is published 12 times/year; is 62 pages long; printed in full colour; with a 137,500 print run; and hand delivered to at least 61,000 households in Ealing. Councillor Taylor's lack of respect for journalists is at least consistent. |
