Good spot Dawn. It was me! Fun over. Your quotes are from me and were published by the Gazette three years ago here: http://philtaylor.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2006/01/Letter%20in%20Gazette%2027-1-2005.jpg Note though that Ealing Council is now providing much better services than it ever did under Labour and was given the Audit Commission’s highest rating only last month (four stars, improving strongly). The trumpet blowing is at least justified now. You might turn to page 32 of the Ealing Residents’ Survey which shows that 47% of residents get their information on council services from Around Ealing. The sample was 3,030 people so you will find it hard to rubbish. http://www.ealing.gov.uk/ealing3/export/sites/ealingweb/services/council/consultations/past_consultations/council/resident_survey/_results/resident_survey_results2008.pdf I would like to think that local papers could provide this service for free but they just don’t. Dawn, you will find many instances on my blog of me criticising local papers for being inaccurate and sullenly unwilling to provide public information services such as telling people how rubbish collections will change over a bank holiday. |
