| 'Those same arguments were made when we opted out of the Euro, with heralded 16b years of growth.' This is completely misinformed. There was no similar consensus about remaining out of the Euro and most city research houses and economists were against joining. Neither side of the argument were claiming that a decision either way would have a catastrophic effect on the UK economy. On the issue of single market there is close to total consensus that the effect of leaving on jobs and growth in the medium term will be negative - the only question is how bad it will be. To dismiss this isn't scepticism but to be in denial a luxury only really available to those who won't be affected. |
