The issue of public transport is a bit of a red herring. The shops will get businesses from people who use the bus services, walk and come by car. Not sure how it breaksdown but obviously car users are significant in terms of the overall percentage. If you make it difficult to park then a small proportion of car users may switch to public transport and continue to shop in the area but most won't. With rents rising and other cost pressures weighing on small businesses this lost of custom will be significant if not fatal. |
