Secondary shopping streets like Pitshanger Lane, South Ealing Road and Northfield Avenue, rely on parking provision for many of their customers. 30 minute Stop and Shop for newspapers, bread, milk, fruit, vegetables and the last minute forgotten items. 2 hours are required for the hairdressers, doctors, dentists, restaurants etc. and Steve Pound’s bookshop visits. What is commonly ignored is that those shopkeepers, health professionals and restaurateurs etc. who may not live locally, need to be able to park their own vehicles near to their businesses without using up valuable customer parking space. When the CPZ cancer arrives in an area, this becomes a major problem for businesses and their employees if no consideration is given. |
