| >Anybody with a single half active brain cell could see what the agenda is and it’s zero to do with (clutch my bosom as I scream it) “child safety”. You've never dropped a kid off at a school then? If you had you would have seen stuck driver's having standoffs with each other, parking on crossings, up on pavements, parking right across drop kerbs, driving along pavements, suddenly reversing in anger, speeding past, three pointing turning in a hurry, throwing doors open, I've seen it all, probaly some mornings, all of it in one go. Watching kids trying to navigate all of this there are always a few gasps from onlookers. Put a school street in and all this goes away overnight, and the kids (and parents, and teachers) are obviously MUCH more relaxed and happy as they come and go from school. School streets are great, they really are. |
