Bell is a moron. He’s never been to a tip because he’s got lackeys to do any manual labour for him. Most people who use Stirling Road live south of Uxbridge Road. From my house it’s 1.5 miles to Acton tip. It’s just under 3 miles to Greenford. It’s about five miles to Abbey Road. What the lardy leader doesn’t understand is his road blocks make longer journeys even longer. Not really an incentive to make a tip trip. Of course there’s a done deal on the land. This time next year it will be a building site. Incidentally, one tonne of concrete creates one tonne of CO2. So work out how big the carbon footprint of whatever monstrosity goes up there will be. It was never about saving money (Around Ealing magazine’s annual subsidy would have covered most operational costs of the tip). It’s about selling off assets. Still, when recycling rates go through the floor and fly tipping increases we now who to blame! |
