Who still doesn't have a kerbside recycling and waste collection? There are plenty of alternatives other than going to Stirling Road. I'll miss it for the tank to empty my bottle of collected oil poured off tins of tuna and bottles of sun dried tomatoes etc - if I don't reuse it. I'll miss it for the garden waste skip that I may use once or twice a year but then I could pay for the kerbside collection, employ someone else to take it away, use a Hippobag, home compost more. www.trashnothing.com is an easy interface for freecycle and freegle and whoever you choose to give something to has to collect it. There are still some recycling banks. There are still charity shops which will reopen and some that collect. There is the charity Petit Miracles who run upcycling and mending courses who like small pieces of furniture. There are the Councils' and the Waste Authority's collections and you can always share this but you'll just have to have the stuff in the same place. For white goods you can get your old item taken away for recycling/disposal if you arrange it with the company that you buy from at the time of buying. |
