It's odd if the Labour surge was due to 'Jeremy Corbyn and his manifesto' that it only really occurred in areas which felt strongly about Remain. The problem Labour face now is that in 2017 Liberal Democrats or non-aligned remainers thought there was a risk that Labour, and their creditably pro-EU MP, would lose in the seat but no risk that Jeremy Corbyn would become PM. These risks have been reversed. People this time out are going to read Labour's manifesto and while it doesn't look set to be particularly radical in general I think once the proposals for the redistribution of ownership of companies are picked apart, the current consensus that Jeremy Corbyn is better than a no deal Brexit may not hold. |
