I thought that part of the democratic process was the keeping of records of who voted for what for the purpose of accountability to the constituents; this is the reason why we don't have secret ballots in the House of Common. Does this not apply in local council, or is it that Ealing has not implemented national law properly? If Ealing Council cannot come up with an answer as to who voted for what than perhaps there is basis for a complaint to the Local Government Ombudsman? Perhaps the Electoral Reform Society might know? |
