| Positive Pippa, These 'beetles' (modern lanterns) on top of your refurbished cast-iron post are just a temporary measure whilst the 'jointing' between the post and the new swan neck and new lantern are re-engineered. The original jointing proved inadequate with some varieties of column tops. There proved to be quite a few different cast-iron column top types out of the 400 or so already taken out of the ground and in various stages of refurbishment and re-use. The 'strange new post' comment is a an odd one. Can you give me more details on this? SEAL has its 23rd meeting in 16 months with the Heritage Quarter Street Lighting Officer tomorrow morning and I'm happy to raise any concerns that you may have. Yours, Victor |
