Hi Peter, Are you referring to the meeting at Ealing Town Hall? Sadiq Khan said "What I find unacceptable is some of those who have got legitimate objections about ULEZ are joining hands with some of those outside, who are part of a far-right group. Let's be frank, let's call a spade a spade. Some of those outside are part of the far right. Some are Covid deniers, some are vaccine deniers and some are Tories." I remember this because I saw it live. He's correct in that there were (and are) members of far-right groups, Covid deniers, and vaccine deniers who protest against ULEZ. They could easily do so without having to make connections to their other causes, but they do. I believe people have the right to protest, and Khan himself admits that people had genuine concerns, but if I was at a protest, or a march, and looked around to see far-right groups or Covid deniers or nutjobs in general, I would think hard about whether I really want to be part of that group, and also, why would my cause attract such people? As for 'acting like Nazis'? Really?? What exactly are you suggesting is in any way comparable to the actions committed by the Nazi Party? Also, are we taking about ULEZ here? Best wishes, Dominik |
