| This was posted by Gordon two days ago: Paul, it is not clear if you think the 'small but minority' is the pro-LTN or anti-LTN group. Assuming it is the latter how do you explain the unwillingness of people in favour of these schemes to participate in surveys? I could understand scepticism of the CAMTAG survey if it stood alone but the Commonplace consultation confirms the proportional breakdown of opinion in the community. If anything the CAMTAG survey comes up with a lower level of opposition being confined to LTN residents who you would expect to the group most inclined to support as they are the supposed beneficiaries. It seems to me really unconvincing that people who are in favour of these schemes become very shy when it comes to consultation exercises. On social media it is they who are the most vocal and you do get the impression that the split of opinion is quite event in places like Facebook and Twitter. However, this seems to be very unrepresentative. Can you give us a single real world piece of evidence that supports your contention that anti-LTN feeling is in the minority and only a reflection of those opposed shouting the loudest? |
