That's definitely better. You responded to my question about self-selection as I was writing it. As far as I can see your argument is that some people wouldn't have filled in the survey due to concerns about data protection. I don't know what pledges CAMTAG made about use of data but the amount collected isn't commercially exploitable and it is hard to see what use they could make of the contact details of those firmly in favour of the scheme. As I understand GDPR they would be obliged to delete data collected once there was no use for it related to the purpose for which it was originally collected. I've heard similar reasoning from people who refuse to respond to council consultations and to me it makes zero sense. Isn't it reasonable to conclude that the number of people declining to respond to the CAMTAG survey on these grounds is negligible because it showed a split in opinion almost identical to the Commonplace survey? |
