The problem with the notion that the survey is 'self-selecting' or a petition is that the 78% opposition shown is the same (allowing for rounding up) as the 77.5% opposition that Ealing Council's own report on responses to Commonplace revealed. This level of consistency is hard to argue with. Paul may choose to argue the toss about semantics but it won't change the fact that the evidence of overwhelming opposition is now conclusive. His energy would perhaps be better employed in looking more closely at the survey results to identify the bits of LTN21 that could be salvageable. The scheme is clearly ridiculously over ambitious but that doesn't mean that each and every one of the measures implemented needs to be removed. |
