| There seem to be some Julian Bell fans here. The hard fact is, that cycling to work is for the white collar workers. My husband, now retired, was on the tools. Carrying 2 industrial toolboxes, industrial length cabling and goodness knows what else. The notion that he could have carted all that around various London sites on a bike or Tube, well we had a good laugh. I could throw in the state of the roads which seem to be mainly pot holes now plus the fact that a lot of both parents and children think it is their right to ride on the pavement in Pitshanger Lane. At the moment I’m just about young enough to jump out of their way but I soon won’t be. If challenged these yummy mummies give me an obscene mouthful. So you must forgive me if I don’t join in the JB Fan Club re cycle lanes, which always seem to be underused anyway. |
