Like most people I have mixed views on Sainsburys and Tescos on local shopping roads. However there was a succession of local mini supermarkets, over many years, before Tescos came onto Northfield Ave with a cleaner, brighter store. I am not aware that shops right by Tescos, namely Richardson's butchers, Parkers bakery, the two Darch and Duff gift shops, the Owl and the Pussy Cat book shop, the shoe repairer, the drycleaner have lost business because of the Tescos. If shops "up their game" then they will benefit from Sainsburys, not lose. However I am concerned if Sainsburys gain their off-licence until midnight. I have objected to them opening beyond the 11:00 pm that Tesco is open Cllr David Millican, representing Northfield Ward |
