Oh Trizia, you've really hit the nail on the head. While the residential streets of Ealing are still very nice places to live - plenty of trees, safe to walk, lots of green space and parks - successive councils have ruined Ealing as a community: no social and cultural facilities, no decent shops and now plans to turn the run-down heart of the town into overcrowded soon-to-be slums of buy-to-let flats. Most of our councillors are either self-interested, incompetent or worse; it's hard to decide which. They certainly don't care about keeping Ealing a decent place to live. And the council officers are mostly mercenaries who take us for a two or three year ride and move on. I've lived here for over twenty years and deeply regret that decision today. Try looking at the borders of Chiswick for somewhere to live. What's happened to Chiswick High Rd and the streets off it is what should have happened to Ealing if greed, short-termism and lack of imagination hadn't won out. |
