| Trade Press is entirely dependent on advertorial. They find it almost impossible to be objective , impartial or critical as they are 100% dependent on advertising revenue and access. Fashion Industry is the same and closes rank and denies access to mainstream media and only the fawning sycophants get access. Of course when real scandal finally comes out, all those on the gravy train are always "Truly Shocked". BBC is similar. You have to 'be in the inside to operate' but on their terms. So spoon fed PR written and copy approved is the only way and at the end of the day most who pass as journalists in that field comply as they, like everyone else have to make a living and it's a diminishing trade. Newspapers are all but finished and the internet is so poor that it's very, very difficult to get any information that can be verified. Old style leg work still works effectively but it's costly and time consuming. But these corrupt and influential types, consultancies et all, see this and take advantage, use social media to divide and rule, infiltrate, and frankly get away with stuff that a local paper would once have nipped in the bud, fully exposed and goodbye Cllr X and Officer Y and Builder X Not anymore. People really need to wake up to what we have sleepwalked into. |
