It’s a strange application. It doesn’t fulfill any of the council’s claims for affordable housing and it will actually diminish the park (or what’s left of it). We know that the council is keen to redesignate MetrooliOpen Land, such as Gurnell, so that they can build all over it, but Lammas Park is relatively small and this proposed development will be very intrusive. A lot of objections lodged already, although it’s worth bearing in mind that any points raised should be relevant to what will be considered by the planning committee, such as scale, loss of amenity, etc. Simply saying you don’t like it isn’t enough, as has been proven elsewhere, although the weight of opinion on this should make some of the local councillors think carefully about how they are actually representing the residents. I’d be interested to know if anyone has heard from a councillor. They have gone very quiet on a number of contentious issues lately, including the proposed Heathrow expansion. |
