Actually, whilst I looked up the english etymology for Polack, I spoke with a few Polish colleagues today and have to stand corrected. In Polish, the word for a Polish citizen or Pole as we would say is...Polack. Something lost in translation somewhere in time. It's the american use that deems it derogatory, like Limey. |
