When I originally posted on this thread, I missed out the word “builders” after the word “professional”. I also had had, yet another weekend disturbed by very keen Polish builders working in my upstairs neighbours flat, doing “quiet work”, demolishing a kitchen on a wooden floor on Saturday afternoon. There seems to be a culture whereby Brit workers are described as lazy as they don’t work before 8, after 6 or on a Sunday whereas a builder from such and such a place will, because they are either unaware of the regulations or willing to breach them. Unfortunately the builders I have experienced doing this are Polish. Someone else even admits that the builders they used did do it. I do realise that not all Polish people are builders and not all builders are Polish. I’m also aware that I now sound like I have an issue with Poles, which I don’t, anyone who has had to put up with this kind of disturbance will tell you what a strain it can put on daily life and neighbour relations. If Wicktor or anyone else is in a position to get this message across, it might help others. |
