These are typical Lib Dem By Election tactics.

They often claim they are running second to whover the favourite is - even though there is absolutely no evidence for their claims.

The Lib Dems came second to Labour in the last General Election but were only narrowly ahead of the Tories.

The Tories now have a new leader, a new image, new policies and a very strong local candidate who has brought in a lot of support.

The Lib Dems in contrast have imploded nationally, have an old leader, an old image, no policies,a candidate who has tried and failed before and no new local support.

And of course the Labour Party is in a complete and utter mess !
