I share your views. I am happy with the Tory administration at Ealing Council, and I think the three Northfields councillors genuinely are enthusiastic about our interests. I would love to have had an opportunity to vote for one of them in this election. However, this Tory campaign is patronising and cynical. Like the other candidates, would Lit have been selected if his skin was a lighter shade of brown? It certainly didn't seem to matter he has no background with the Conservative party. What I am taking from this election is that racism is absolutely acceptable providing it is not perpetrated by white people. If the cultural background to this sad bi-election was reversed, there would be an outcry. Our Liberal candidate is working on a scatter-gun approach criticising absolutely everything. How dare he criticize our parks? We have more parks than I can take my kids to in a week, all of them with new and interesting play equipment, and beautifully maintained. I think for the first time since 1979 I may actually visit the ballot box and spoil my paper. |
