| Inheritance tax is fine when at a reasonable level but looking at house prices in London it is difficult to handle. When by girlfriend died in 2009 just after the crash had hammered house values we came in just under the threshold else i might have had to take out a mortgage to cover the extra costs when the income for the house had been reduced. But of course the people that have the money that would be useful for the taxman have a better way of hiding it. tax avoidance is big business and of course the big tax advisors have plenty of inside influence with the hmrc. I am happy to pay tax as i feel that it reflects my own blessings and good fortune. |
