I cannot understand why shopkeepers are allowed to take up so much public footpath space to trade so much tat. They create huge obstruction and congestion for pedestrians, wheelchairs, blind people, mothers with push chairs etc.Surely there should be a restriction as to how far they can trade beyond the limits of the shop fronts. There are many areas in Ealing which have become eyesores and some have even erected canopies way across the pavements. These shops already occupy huge space inside and use our public space to expand their businesses. This has to be very unfair to the general public who have to endure these hazardous conditions and severely restrict the use of footpaths and Public transport.I think this situation should be seriously reviewed.Apparently shop owners can pay for such use but this facility should not be sanctioned and footpaths should be returned to the PUBLIC to whom they belong. |
