Is that last response meant to be some sort of spoof? If the originator of this thread means the single yellow transverse markings on the kerb (sometimes known as 'blips' in the trade), then they denote 'no loading' during the periods stated on the lower (white-background) half of the accompanying restriction timeplates on lamp posts or separate posts on this stretch (couldn't be bothered to get out of my car and check the times). These innovative markings have only been part of the national traffic signage system since the mid 1960s. At any rate they seem to have had the 9presumably intended) effect of clearing the evening parking along this stretch into the adjacent side troads. |
