I liked the system best of all when we could use a see-through plastic bag because I used to re-use one that the loo rolls came in...and then it was gone.

My white bag has the house no on it and lives rolled up inside a green bin out of the sun so as not to deteriorate when not in use.  My neighbour or I whoever is home or home first puts the bags away (not every week as this saves effort and energy for me/my neighbour and the operatives). They are practically without exception left back on the bottom step.

Whatever reusable container is used there will be some problems and sometimes it may be easier to recycle elsewhere eg the recycling banks (see www.ealing.gov.uk)

You can order containers online from the Council website and I've found this very effective when I've needed to.  You can also email customers@ealing.gov.uk.

Many plastic bags for apples, bread etc can be taken to a larger Sainsbury's eg Chiswick as they have a recycling bin inside the front door for these (and other recycling bins in the car park). It just depends on where you work/visit/shop etc.  It is obviously much easier though if you buy less packaging with your goods. Keep reading the info on the packaging too as some of it is slowly changing and if you aren't sure email the company to find out.

Whatever you do, don't ever ever just moan about it as the contractors are just that - contracted by the Council to do a job (and the operatives to do it within a certain amount of time) - and the Council officers and your Councillors will never know that you are unhappy with the situation unless you tell them!
