I have no problem with the time it takes to organise the recycling, the container used, or the amount I have. My problem is only with the contractors, who are let's face it, being paid to do a job, and (in my area at least - though it seems in others too) are simply not doing it. I understand that they need to be sure that each recycling lorry only takes what it is meant to, hence the separation, but I think that most people (even at that time of the morning!) can tell the difference between a carrier bag full of plastic, and a carrier bag full of cardboard or glass. It shouldn't therefore matter if those carrier bags are in green boxes, white sacks or frilly knickers! The refusal to touch plastic in anything other than the white sack (particularly when they are the cause of its absence!) strikes me as petty and jobs-worthy, and NOT what they are paid for. |
