I just got though the post an invitation from Ealing Council to pay my Council Tax by Direct Debit. I quote from the blurb: "Eligible recipients who pay their Council Tax by Direct Debit will receive their payment [i.e. £50 cashback] promptly into their bank or building society account". I am wondering what this means. Does it mean: a) If you are eligible (whatever that means) AND you pay by DD, you will get the cashback? or b) If you pay by DD, you are eligible to receive the cashback. Call me cycnical, but the wording appears to be deliberately misleading non-DD payers such as myself into believing that they need to sign up for DD in order to get the cashback. Does anyone know what the score is? |
