I have had an all-electric car for 3 years and when I first got it, requested permission to run a cable from the front of my property in an Eco-drain, to the kerb. There was not much help forthcoming from Councillor Bassam Mahfouz and I resorted to installing a socket on my gatepost and running the charging cable under some builders hose/cable ramps across the pavement to the grass verge when in use (usually at night). Unfortunately, this method only works if I am able to park directly outside my house. When this is not possible, I cannot charge. I have e-mailed the Parking dept. and asked when charge points are installed on lamp posts in the street, will it be possible to restrict parking access to electric vehicles only, much as Disabled Drivers have exclusive access to Blue Badge Bays?
