Peter, you entered into a "contract" by parking in a residents bay. Have you an argument against this e.g. the CPM signs were obscured by foliage, they were not at point of entry to car park, the wording on sign is not good English etc. You will receive an increasing number of threatening letters, eventually from debt collectors and then from small claims at County Court where the debt will have reached circa £250. However if you have a good argument you have a good chance that the Judge will find in your favour not least because CPM are unlikely to turn up and will ask for their evidence to be heard in their absence.
