| Nail on head to the most part Keith. My daughter teaches, my wife and son both work in LA schools I used to be vice-chair of governors at a very large LA secondary school. The children that succeed have supportive parents who share in the education of their children. The kids from the most disadvantaged backgrounds can excel if their parents support them and their teachers in their endeavours; equally the children from 'privileged' backgrounds will fail dismally if they are totally unsupported outside the school environment and you can guess which group of parents complain most vehemently when 'little Oliver or Cordelia' don't get the results they expect. |
