I can't help feeling that if there was more discipline in schools, a better attitude from some parents and pupils and a bit more old fashioned structure to lessons and learning that there would be no need to lengthen the hours in a day devoted to school. But as none of that is likely to happen anytime soon then change seems inevitable in order to prepare children for life in the modern world of work, which after all is what school is supposed to do. The proposed 10 hr day seems long tho'.I would have though a 4.30 finish and fewer weeks holiday might be acceptable. Our kids do have fewer hrs of lessons than in most countries. |
