Richardson's Butchers in South Ealing closed down and I believe a fair few of their regular customers moved over to the Northfields shop - notwithstanding the greater distance and similar shortage of parking. The familiar faces of David & Colin are still there to greet the ex-South Ealing customers. I for one now enjoy a walk through Lammas Park instead of squeezing past the station at South Ealing dodging all the high-speed pavement cyclists. Combining this with Parker's Bakery and the Cheese Deli (and occasionally visiting the Crack'd Pot flower shop (also once in South Ealing)) en route back makes the shopping trip all the more productive. I find it pleasantly surprising that Northfield Avenue shops are still able to trade despite the closure and conversion to a drinking establishment of the only remaining Bank premises in the road. I would advise not knocking what you have - look at the sad state of parts of the South Ealing Road and West Ealing; Ealing Broadway itself is not a patch on what it used to be. One has to go to Kingston to find a good choice of shops these days. Be happy with what you have! |
