Most people aren't against the idea of a theatre, but rather it's the plans to use a large chunk of Ealing's most popular park to house it. Where was the grand plan for this type of facility when the planning of the town centre was being put together years ago? Maybe putting a theatre in the Filmworks development would have been better than the permanently unoccupied units there. There's next to no chance of a permanent theatre being built as a result of this experiment. Nowhere suitable in central Ealing and the costs would be astronomical. Look at the example of Watermans in Brentford. Closed for over two years despite being a going concern and no realistic prospect of a replacement being built, even though a site has been earmarked. |
